Who struggles hitting fiber goals?

Dietary fiber is a type of carbohydrate that the body cannot digest.

There are two types of fiber – insoluble & soluble. You need them BOTH because they have different effects in the body.

  • Insoluble – Does not dissolve in water. Speeds up the passage of food.
Sources: Fruit & Veg skins, nuts, seeds, cauliflower, whole Grains.

  • Soluble – Dissolves in water. Slows GI transit. Helps decrease blood sugar levels & Cholesterol.
Sources: Oats, Flax, Beans, Legumes, Lentils.

Lots of whole foods contain both types of fiber so just make sure you are getting plenty of whole foods in your diet & you’re good.

Drink LOTS of water – NO EXCUSES! Water helps fiber move through your digestive tract. It is absolutely shocking to me at how many people do NOT drink enough water!

Consuming adequate fiber helps keep you regular and maintain a healthy gut. Your gut bacteria LOVES fiber.

Fiber also helps with blood sugar control, which can in turn help with fat loss.

Fiber keeps you fuller for longer which ALSO helps in fat loss!
